Names of the Dead

The Department of Defense has identified 4,441 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war and 1,548 who have died as a part of the Afghan war and related operations. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans this week:


Iraq


LARA, Andrew E., 25, Specialist, Army; Albany, Ore.; 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry.


Afghanistan


AMBARD, Philip D., 44, Maj., Air Force; Edmonds, Wash.; 460th Space Communications Squadron.


AUSBORN, Jeffrey O., 41, Maj., Air Force; Gadsden, Ala.; 99th Flying Training Squadron.


BRODEUR, David L., 34, Maj., Air Force; Auburn, Mass.; 11th Air Force.


BROWN, Tara R., 33, Master Sgt., Air Force; Deltona, Fla.; Office of Special Investigations.


BRYANT, Frank D. Jr., 37, Lt. Col., Air Force; Knoxville, Tenn.; 56th Operations Group.


ESTELLE, Raymond G. II, 40, Maj., Air Force; New Haven, Conn.; Headquarters Air Combat Command.


NYLANDER, Nathan J., 35, Capt., Air Force; Hockley, Tex.; 25th Operational Weather Squadron.


RANSOM, Charles A., 31, Capt., Air Force; Midlothian, Va.; 83rd Network Operations Squadron.
